Event Parts Overview
Events are made up of Event Parts. Events may consist of a single Event Part or many. Event Parts are essentially activities within an Event. For example, on a field trip there could be four separate Event Parts for getting on the buses, going on a hike, eating lunch, and returning to the buses. Additionally, the organizer could include Event Parts for organizational activities such as finding chaperones, creating field trip groups, and soliciting field trip feedback.
This may sound like an overwhelming variety of uses for Event Parts, but the important thing to remember is that Event Parts serve as the structure for activities within an Event and that Event Parts can be deployed to separate groups of People and locations within an Event.
You can view all the Event Parts within an Event from the “Event Summary” page or the “Build Event” page. From the “Event Summary” page, you can quickly see the name of all Event Parts within an Event, the Lists associated with each Event Part, as well as the date and status. On the “Build Event” screen, you have access to the same information along with edit functions for the associated Lists.
In the article “Adding Event Parts” we will discuss creating Event Parts and the numerous ways in which Event Parts can be used to structure an Event.
